On 20 November 2006 the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued a ruling on the interpretation of part 1 of article 10 of the Law \"On guarantees and measures for the protection of the rights of foreign investors\" (the \"Law\")

A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) visited the Republic of Uzbekistan from November 30 through December 13, 2006 to hold discussions with the Government of Uzbekistan within the framework of 2006 Article IV consultations. The mission was headed by Ms. Sena Eken, assistant director in the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the IMF.

With purposes of further liberalization in judicial and legal systems of Uzbekistan and gradual transferring the rights of prosecution bodies to apprehension and arrest to the Courts, and within the stipulation of the articles 19, 25 and 44 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the President of Uzbekistan signed the Decree N3644 dated 8th August 2005 on ?On Transferring to the Courts the Rights to Issue Sanctions for Arrest?.

Justice in Uzbekistan is carried out by the courts. The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan proclaims the independence of judicial authority. Being an independent branch of the power, judicial bodies carry out the function to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals and citizen.

Since the first days of independence Uzbekistan has been paying an importance of priority to the issues of legal, economic and social protection of maternity and childhood, creating conditions for comprehensive development and bringing up the under-aged children in the spirit of common to all mankind values.

Uzbekistan has reach ancient history, including in the field of education. Our ancestors have left to us thousands of excellent specimens of human work, masterpieces of art, science and literature.

For the past years of its independence Uzbekistan has been carrying out cardinal reforms in many spheres including gradual enhancement in the legal and judicial field with the purpose of liberalizing penal system.

The Women?s Committee of Uzbekistan, which was established in 1991, has been carrying out consistent work to improve the status of women in the country. The Committee unites more than 3 million members nationwide.

One of the forms of rendering judicial assistance to the population is the activities of student?s Judicial clinics, with the main task to provide judicial consultations free of charge, explaining different issues of acting legislation, dissemination of legal information, rendering of judicial assistance above all to low-income, aged and socially vulnerable sections of the population.

With gaining the independence of Uzbekistan the institution of legal profession in the Republic has undergone serious changes.
