5th International Cotton Fair took place in Tashkent on October 14-15, 2009. 515 representatives of about 300 companies from 34 countries of the world have participated in the event.

International Fair demonstrated the fact that Uzbek cotton is earning ever greater fame thanks to its high quality. Its fiber is long and durable and fully meets the International requirements.

Nowadays Uzbekistan’s cotton is exported to China, Russia, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Vietnam and other countries. Demand for Uzbek cotton is rising in South-East Asia where the textile industry is developing intensively.

Within the framework of international economic cooperation Uzbekistan puts forward new initiatives on developing practical and mutually beneficial relations with its foreign partners. Unpredictable nature of cotton market is being taken into account – new transport routes are being developed, and methods of processing, maintaining and certification of fiber are being improved. The system of certifying cotton on bales based upon the most advanced technology enables consumers to guarantee the high quality of the cotton purchased in Uzbekistan.

According to unanimous assessments of the participants, 5th International Cotton Fair have served as an affirmation of Uzbekistan’s leading role in the world cotton market, the fact, particularly, evidenced by the attendance of the representatives of so many countries in the Fair.

Foreign experts who participated in the Fair highly assessed the favorable business environment in Uzbekistan for developing farming, micro crediting, providing necessary equipment and materials on a preferential basis. Moreover, legislative base has been created that meets the international requirements of selling the harvested cotton to domestic and foreign consumers.

It is noteworthy that one of the most important results of the Fair is the signing of a number of agreements on the purchase of over 1 million tones of Uzbek cotton.

Another important aspect of the Fair is the fact that among the foreign partners who attended the event the share of product manufacturers from Uzbek cotton has expanded significantly. Participation in this event enabled them to establish direct contacts and sign mutually beneficial agreements on cotton supplies. Leading consumers and experts eye witnessed the latest accomplishments of Uzbek cotton producers, the harvesting process, its reprocessing and export. They have exchanged views on the issues of world cotton production as well as its new trends.

5th International Cotton Fair once again affirmed the fact that year after year the status of Uzbekistan as one of the leaders of world cotton business along with its role and prestige in International economic relations are rising.
