Mission of CIS election observers start work in Uzbekistan
The Mission of election observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) started its work in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. CIS observers will monitor the voting process on the eve of the parliamentary elections and also during the elections.
The mission was accredited on Tuesday during the visit of the CIS Executive Secretary Vladimir Rushaylo to the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan.
Five international observers from CIS have already started their activity in Uzbekistan. According to CIS Executive Secretary more observers will arrive in the country several days prior to the elections. The Mission will work closely with the OSCE mission to monitor the parliamentary elections.
It should be noted that the CIS observers have significant experience in monitoring parliamentary election in different countries of the CIS. In particular, until present the CIS observers took part in 17 elections and referendums in seven countries of the CIS.
On December 26 Uzbekistan will hold Parliamentary elections that will create the first bicameral and professional parliament in the country. At present in accordance with the program of the Central Elections Committee of Uzbekistan 120 electoral districts each including 119.6 thousand voters is being formed.
