PRESS-RELEASE of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the agency in charge of arranging the study of foreign students in Uzbekistan.
There is a Charter adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of The Republic of Uzbekistan related to the study of foreign students in Uzbekistan. There are 63 Higher Educational establishments in the Republic of Uzbekistan (Universities, Institutes).
Uzbekistan has a two level higher education system, consisting of bachelor stage (4 years) and master\'s degree stage (2 years). Medical Institutions have from 5 to 7 years of curriculum to get the degree of a specialist. It takes 2,5 - 3 years to get the master\'s degree in medical sphere.
Out of 63 Universities and Institutes less than half is affiliated with different ministries and agencies other than the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, like the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Ministry of Public Education, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior and etc.
However, what concerns the admission, the curriculum, methodology, the whole process of education, these are all being managed by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, no matter what this or that institution is affiliated with.
One can study in Uzbekistan in two major languages - Uzbek and Russian. In case of need there are 10-12 months long Uzbek or Russian language courses to train the foreign students before admission to the University or Institute. On finishing this course, the certificate is being issued to certify the Uzbek or Russian language proficiency.
The University and Institutes have departments in almost all spheres of science and knowledge, i.e. natural (physics, mathematics, chemistry, agriculture, plants, zoology, geology, astronomy, biochemistry, medicine, dentistry, paediatrics, etc) and humanitarian (history, literature, foreign languages, international relations, economics, jurisprudence) and hundreds of other specialities.
The candidates, not older than 25 years of age, with complete or incomplete secondary school education are eligible for admission to the secondary specialized educational institutions.
The candidates, not older than 35 years of age, with complete secondary school education are eligible for admission to the Universities or Institutes.
PhD and Post-graduate programmes are open for candidates with higher education.
The Universities and Institutes can assist to arrange the entry visas and help with other logistics.
Payment for full year is as follows:
1.University or Institute: bachelor degree - $2000, master\'s degree - $2500
2.Medical Institute or University: bachelor degree - $2500, master\'s degree - $3000
3.PhD, Post-graduate course and in-service training - $3000.
4.Secondary specialized educational establishments (colleges, lyceums) - $1000
5.Centre of Language Training - $ 1000 (USD)
Those who wish to study in Uzbekistan should apply directly to the Educational Institution either the Ministry may help to arrange the necessary communication between the applying person and the University or Institute.
The Embassies of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad are also in a position to help in arranging the necessary contacts and sending the papers to Uzbekistan.
The papers required to apply for admission:
1)Application letter stating the name, citizenship, the chosen University or Institution in Uzbekistan;
2)Photocopy of the passport;
3)Certified copy of the document of education (secondary school, college, lyceum certificate) or diploma (of bachelor, master\'s degree, etc.). The original
document could be presented upon arrival.
4)Medical certificate, including HIV/AIDS negativity;
5)The proficiency of Uzbek or Russian language
6)Photos - 4.
The academic year starts in September. To start classes all the necessary arrangements are expected to be completed before September 1. Although in some exclusive cases we process the papers for admission during September as well.
