On the creation of a Task Force on monitoring the investigation and governmental measures to stabilize the situation in Andijan region
On 8 June the first organizational session of the Task Force on monitoring the investigation and measures taken by the government of Uzbekistan to stabilize the situation in Andijan city and Andijan region was held.
As it was previously announced, in order to form Task Force, comprised of representatives of diplomatic missions of Russia, China, USA, France, India, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, the participation of one or two diplomats from each indicated embassy was proposed.
In addition to this, the task of providing wide representation of all parties concerned: global and regional powers, as well as all Uzbekistan?s neighboring states, was made a high priority.
The ambassadors and diplomats from the Embassies of Russian Federation, People?s Republic of China, Islamic Republic of Iran, India, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kirgiz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan took part in the first session of the Task Force.
Representatives from the US and French Embassies, which have not confirmed their participation yet, may join the Task Force at any time in case they will express their interest.
During the session the decisions on organizational issues were made. The Secretariat has been established.
The Task Force has established direct contacts with the investigation groups from the Law Enforcement Agencies and Independent Commission of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament). Uzbek side, in its turn, expressed its readiness and full support for the full-fledged and impartial activity of the Task Force, as well as the access to all necessary materials. With this purpose, representatives from the Parliamentary Commission, MFA and Law Enforcement Agencies took part in the meeting with the Task Force.
