THE SPANISH EDITION ON THE RESULTS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN
On the pages of the Spanish magazine The Diplomat in Spain published an article \"The presidential elections in Uzbekistan - events of regional significance for Central Asia\".
Its author - a professor of the Autonomous University of Madrid Jesús Gil Fuensenta, who visited our country to observe the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as an international observer from Spain.
The article notes that this is an important socio-political event was open and transparent in compliance with national election legislation and universally recognized democratic principles of international law.
\"In the voting out of 20 million 798 thousand 52 people in the lists of voters 18 million 942 thousand 349 people took part, accounting for 91,08% of the total number of voters, - writes Spanish professor. - The candidature of Islam Karimov, nominated by the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, supported 17 million 122 thousand 597 voters or 90,39% of the total number who took part in the vote of citizens. In accordance with the Constitution and the Law \"On elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan\", the Central Election Commission decided to consider Islam Karimov elected to the post of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan\".
The publication emphasizes that evidence of democracy and transparency of the election campaign was the participation of 299 observers from 43 countries in America, Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as five international organizations. The monitoring of the electoral process was also attended by more than 35,000 observers from political parties.
International observers from Spain alone highlights the high turnout and the activity of the citizens and their political and legal maturity. It is emphasized that the elections are of great historical significance for the future of Uzbekistan consistently developing on the path of building a democratic state of law and a strong civil society. They have demonstrated a high level of legal culture and political activity of citizens who, through their participation in the vote once again expressed support for the course consistent reforms in the country.
