PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS 2016

Russian expert about presidential elections in Uzbekistan
According to the results of the presidential elections in the Republic of Uzbekistan international observer, director of the Siberian Institute of Management (Russia), Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences S.Sverchkov shared his opinion:

- Election of the President of Uzbekistan have been open, transparent and democratic manner, based on internationally recognized standards.

The victory of actual President Islam Karimov - a guarantee of the stability of the political system of Uzbekistan and the implementation of further democratic processes in the country.

An important feature that I would like to mention is the provision of equal opportunity for active and independent campaign for all candidates.

With regard to openness and transparency in the process of truly democratic and fair elections, I think, an important role in this was played by giving the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan status of a constitutional body that provides training and conduct of elections without any interference by other authorities. This, in my opinion, is due to the trust of voters for the elections, voter turnout and high turnout of 91% of the total number of citizens included in the lists.

I would also like to note that the conduct of elections - is the choice of a multinational state. They were attended by representatives of more than 20 nationalities. All polling stations that I visited, information materials were not only in Uzbek, but also in Russian and English languages.

In addition, I want to emphasize a lot of preparatory work undertaken by the CEC, and high technical equipment of polling stations, even in the most remote regions of the country. This means of communication, computers and office equipment, legal literature, the possibilities for the international community to observe the electoral process online.
