Voting took place in a calm atmosphere
The elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was observed by Mission of the Association of World Electoral Bodies (AWEB).
altAWEB, headquartered in the South Korean Incheon, was founded by relevant agencies about a hundred nations of the world in order to enhance international cooperation in the exchange of information and experience of organizing and conducting open, fair, transparent and democratic elections. Uzbekistan is also a member of the association. Earlier AWEB sent an observer mission to take part in the elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, regional, district and city councils of people\'s deputies in December 2014.
The members of the observation mission of the elections of the President of our country arrived in Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic. The visit included a meeting with the leadership of the CEC, visiting Tashkent and Samarkand. They also visited the memorial places and got acquainted with the rich history and culture of the region.
- Our aim was to study the electoral process, in particular, voting and vote counting. On election day, the mission visited a number of polling stations and directly see how the work was delivered - said at the final briefing for domestic and foreign media head of the mission, Director of Planning Department of the Association of World Electoral Bodies Lee Chung-hee.
- In areas necessary conditions for the voters were created. I should say about the mother and child room, equipped at each site - it was very convenient for the parents who came to vote. We were also pleasantly surprised by the presence of medical items in case if someone feels unwell. I can say that everything was organized in an atmosphere of openness and honesty, voting was conducted in a calm atmosphere. People came well prepared, they with all their heart rejoiced that take part in this important event. We also observed the vote count and made sure he was conducted openly and promptly.
