CEC: More than 71% of voters already casted their votes
The Republican press centre for the coverage of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a briefing for domestic and international observers, representatives of mass media.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) M.Abdusalomov noted that citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan demonstrate a high political activity. As of 1 pm (13.00), more than 14 million 900 thousand people from 20, 798, 52 persons included in the lists of voters attended the elections. It makes 71.6 percent of the total number of voters.
He pointed out that the elections are being carried out in full compliance with national electoral legislation that meets all international standards and it fixed by democratic principles of transparency, openness and fairness.
According to the norms of the electoral law, the precinct election commissions will organize polling for some voters, who canít arrive at the polling place, in their place of residence.
About 300 observers from five international organizations taking part in the elections Ė the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (ODIHR OSCE), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Shanghai Cooperation Organization, World Association of electoral bodies and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, as well as 43 states.
In addition, more than 35 thousand observers from political parties that nominated candidates for the Presidency, representatives of the media are participating in the voting process.
By now, the chairman of the Central Election Commission did not receive any information on violations during the voting process.
