Hotel \"Sayohat\" in Tashkent will hold Asian checkers championship among youth in 22-31 March. Uzbekistan Federation of Checkers and the Ministry of Culture and Sports will be the main organizers of the tournament.

Senators and deputies, as well as scientists and cultural workers of Uzbekistan and foreign diplomats participated in tree-planting action in Tashkent. The action, which took place last weekend, was organized by Ecosan, ecology and health organization of Uzbekistan.

Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has declared the city of Tashkent as the world capital of Islamic culture in 2007. The reason for making such an important decision is the place the Republic of Uzbekistan and Tashkent have in the history of Islamic civilization, solicitous and deferential attitude of the President and the nation of Uzbekistan to the rich heritage of Islam.

According to the Economy Ministry of Uzbekistan, the amountof attracted foreign investments to Uzbekistan in 2006 had increased by 20%.
