LIBERAL-DEMOCRATIC PARTY HOLDS 21 SEATS IN PARLIAMENT
Newly created Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan holds the majority of seats in the lower chamber of the Uzbek parliament after the first round of elections.
The Central Election Commission said that party of businesses got 21 seats, while the People?s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan took 18.
Nine members of Fidokorlar national Democratic Party, six members of Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party, two members of Adolat social-democratic party and six members of voters? initiative groups were elected to the Legislative Chamber.
Overall, 62 people out of 120 parliamentarians were elected to the law-making house of the parliament. 8 of 62 MPs or 12.9% the elected are women.
The Central Election Commission ordered to hold re-election at 58 election constitutions on 9 January.
Uzbekistan held parliamentary elections on 26 December and about 12.19 million people of 14.32 million (85.1%) eligible voters cast their votes.
