Creation of bicameral parliament in Uzbekistan is a new step to democratic development of society in Uzbekistan, the president of the country said on Sunday.

489 contenders of 517 registers candidates competed for 120 seats in the Legislative House of the Oliy Majlis.

227 international observers monitored the elections.
