President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Trade and Industry Minister of Oman Maqbul bin Ali bin Sultan at Oqsaroy on 22 March.

Welcoming the guest, the Head of state said relations between Uzbekistan and Oman have been developing steadily.

President Karimov’s state visit to Oman in October 2009 facilitated to raise the bilateral cooperation to a higher new level, and about twenty documents were signed during that visit.

During the current visit of Oman delegation, a forum of business circles of the two countries will be held, where the sides plan to discuss new projects and investment opportunities. Oman’s business circles have demonstrated enormous interest in Uzbekistan’s Navoi Free Industrial and Economic Zone.

During the meeting at Oqsaroy, Maqbul bin Ali bin Sultan expressed sincere gratitude to President Islam Karimov for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Oman’s interest in boosting the cooperation with Uzbekistan in all areas.

Prospects to consolidate trade, economic and investment cooperation as well as other topics of mutual interest were discussed at the occasion.
