Two environmental projects launched in Aral Sea area
Karakalpak council of the Environmental movement of Uzbekistan has launched two projects aimed at improving the health of the population and solving the problems caused by decline of the Aral Sea level.
One of the projects envisages strengthening the health of the population of Kegeyli district and improvement of the medical service of the residents of remote villages.
The Environmental movement will supervise the rural medical station in Kegeyli village, where medical equipment worth UZS 22 million and 30 types of medicaments worth UZS 5 million was delivered.
“Now the village residents don’t have to travel to the district center of Nukus (capital of Karakalpakstan) to see a doctor,” Nuriya Aytjanova of the movement’s Karakalpak council said. “They can receive a diagnosis and get treatment right here.”
The second project of the Environmental movement is aimed at development of the agriculture in Amudarya district.
