UCell outstrips Beeline to become Uzbekistan\'s 2nd largest mobile operator
One of Uzbekistan\'s leading mobile operators Coscom, rendering its services under UCell brand in the country, has become the second largest mobile communication provider in the republic in terms of subscriber base on results of the first half of 2009, according to the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Informatization.

\"I\'m proud and happy that we are occupying the second position in the Uzbek market. This is the beginning of a new epoch in the history of UCell, and I thank from the bottom of my heart all our subscribers that helped us reach such a significant result. We will continue developing and introducing new services, so that our clients will love UCell much more,\" Director General of Coscom Oguz Memiguven said.

UCell became the second largest mobile operator with more than 4.3 million subscribers at the end of July this year. Currently, the company has over 4.7 million users. Accordingly, the share of UCell in terms of the number of subscribers in the mobile market of Uzbekistan is estimated at approximately 30%.

Before that Coscom was occupying the third place in the Uzbek mobile market yielding to Uzdunrobita (MTS brand) and Unitel (Beeline brand). Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (Unzdunrobita, GSM standard), Beeline (Unitel, GSM standard), Ucell (Coscom, GSM standard), Perfectum Mobile (Rubicon Wireless Communication, CDMA standard) and UzMobile (Uzbektelecom, CDMA standard).

UCell has achieved such a considerable progress due to the innovations, modern technologies, introduction of new tariffs and services, as well as creation of new network with greatly expanded coverage and larger capacity.

The company plays special role in the development of Uzbekistan\'s economy. In the past one and a half year UCell has made over $300 million worth of investments. Besides, being one of the largest companies in the country, UCell pays all taxes and other compulsory payments contributing to the state\'s budget.

UCell plans in the future to develop its activity and direct its energy and resources on rendering its subscribers better services at the most favorable prices.
