Automobile of Uz-Daewoo entered to Top-10 among foreign cards, realized in Russia, GM Uzbekistan’s official distributor said. The distributor said quoting the Automobile Producers Committee of the European Business Association (EBA), that Uz-Daewoo cars took eighth position in Top-10 foreign cars, realized in the Russian Federation. The company said sales of the Uzbek cars rose by 33% year-on-year in December 2009. In particular, sales of Nexia model grew by 48% and Matiz cars rose by 14%. In line with the EBA report, Nexia was the only car, produced abroad, which entered to Top-10 in the result of 2009. Other cars in the list produced in Russia. In annual rating, Matiz took the fifth place, just after fourth-placed Nexia. The distributor said the Uzbek automobile producer showed similar results during all 2009.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution on 27 January on the State Program “Year of harmoniously developed generation”. As reported earlier, the year 2010 was proclaimed Year of harmoniously developed generation in Uzbekistan.

Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held a session on 29 January 2010 to sum up social-economic development of Uzbekistan in 2009. Uzbek President Islam Karimov participated at the meeting. The growth of the GDP made up 8.1% in 2009, the Uzbek leader said. Industrial output rose by 9% and agriculture production increased by 5.5%, while investments grew by 24.8%. The growth of retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan made up 16.6% and paid service increased by 12.9%. The state budget was implemented with 0.2% surplus to GDP and inflation level made up 7.4% in 2009.
