“UZBEKISTAN’S AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY EXPANDS ITS PRODUCTION”
Under such headline “Times Kuwait” newspaper published an article devoted to the development of the auto industry in our country.
The article noted that the country’s two largest automobile manufacturer GM Uzbekistan and JV MAN Auto - Uzbekistan announced plans to expand their presence in the domestic market and use the existing industrial base to increase the export capacity.
For example, the German engineering company MAN Truck & Bus is planning to turn Uzbekistan into the export hub for the promotion of its products to the markets of Central Asia. Today, the republic is unique platform for MAN’s production export in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
It reported that today Uzbekistan is among MAN’s top 10 markets. In a current year, the company released 5000 trucks at its plant in Samarkand and brought the assembly capacity in the country to the level of the annual output of about 3 million heavy equipment units.
“The key points of growth in the short term will be two projects launched this year. They are the production of two types of buses and work on trucks localization”, - informed “Times Kuwait”.
It noted that in the near future Uzbekistan will be one of the leaders in bus production. MAN Lion`s CNG (Compressed Natural Gas - CNG) is testing a completely new type of technology. This pattern has won the title of “Bus of the Year - 2015” at Bus Euro Test annual competition. Its great advantage is a successful combination of a low-floor chassis and advanced working technology on CNG. As a result, operating efficiency compared to the bus with petrol or diesel increased by 40%
The article noted that the other car giant GM Uzbekistan is implementing a special package of measures to overcome the crisis in major export markets, providing a further expansion of produced cars line to meet internal and external needs, improving their localization. As a result of these efforts, the company will have a significant advantage, which it will use in the situation of export markets stabilization.
Uzbekistan is an important production base for GM, because it is among the five countries with the highest sales of the brand Chevrolet. The republic ranked fifth in the world in car sales in 2014, rising one position compared with 2013 year.
The article stressed that GM Uzbekistan has made great efforts to further expand the localization. Now, more than half of the 200 direct components suppliers are in the country. They produce about 40% of 7500 parts used in automobile production.
“The company’s special pride is GM Powertrain Uzbekistan factory for the production of automobile engines. It produces world-class engines of 1,2 and 1,5 liters. Since 2012, when it started production, output has increased to 260 thousand units. The products are used in the assembly of cars produced in Uzbekistan. In addition, part of the enginea is sent to the United States for use in the after-sales service”, - informed the Kuwaiti edition.
The Kuwaity newspaper provides information about the currently available product line – Damas, Labo, Matiz, Spark, Nexia, Cobalt, Lacetti, Captiva, Malibu and Orlando.
