Uzbekistan plans to attract US$1.3 billion of Singaporean investments
Uzbekistan intends to attract US$1.3 billion in investments in the oil- and gas-chemical industry of the country in Singapore, President Karimov told media before leaving for a three-day state visit.
\"It is expected to attract US$1 billion in investments for the expansion of diesel fuel production and US$300 million to double the capacity of polyethylene production at Shurtan Gas-Chemical Complex,\" he said.
Uzbekistan and Singapore \"are working on more than 20 large joint projects in the sphere of economy, oil and gas, and light industry\", President said. \"We intend to attract the most advanced technology from Singapore,\" he emphasized.
He also said that during the meetings with the administration of the partner country they would discuss \"the issues regarding expansion of cooperation and the urgent issues of international nature of mutual interest to the parties.\"
Upon completion of negotiations, President Karimov said, it is planned to sign cooperation agreements in economic and humanitarian spheres, \"bilateral documents on cooperation between foreign political departments and commerce and industry chambers, on organization of air communication between the two countries.\"
