US EMBASSY OPENS INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION FAIR
On 19 November, US deputy Chief of Mission David Appleton officially opened the 2nd International Education Fair in Tashkent at Dedeman Silk Road hotel.
The fair, attended by almost 600 secondary and university students, professors and other visitors interested in international exchange programs, provided all in attendance with a wide variety of information about educational opportunities in other countries.
Over 20 embassies, educational institutions and international organizations based in Uzbekistan had displays and information about their international exchange programs at the fair.
The education fair is part of a much larger celebration, International Education Week, which took place throughout the world during 15-19 November. In Uzbekistan, over 20 events related to international education and exchange were held in Andijan, Ferghana, Termez, Namangan, Tashkent, Jizzakh, Karshi, Urgench, Samarkand and Navoi during this week.
In his remarks, DCM Appleton noted that the professional cooperation and lifelong friendships that international education promotes can build a foundation for lasting partnerships between countries, and that education fairs are one way to help those interested in international education learn more about educational exchange opportunities.
