Journalism development prospects discussed in Tashkent
The international conference on the prospects of development of national journalism took place in the capital. The event was organized by the Committee on Information and Communication Technologies of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the Parliamentary Commission for the management of the assets of the Public Fund for Support of NGOs and other civil society institutions, the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan, as well as the representatives of news agencies of the country. During the conference, participants discussed a number of issues, including the liberalization of the media, the training of highly qualified journalistic personnel and other relevant topics.
The main purpose of the event was to develop proposals and recommendations for further development of the priority areas of the national journalism and strengthen its active citizenship. In addition, the participants noted that the formation of the competitive media environment that meets international standards is necessary for the creation of appropriate conditions to introduce digital information technologies into the sphere of mass media.

Thus, the conference was attended by international experts, including members of the UNESCO and the OSCE Office in Uzbekistan, experts of the Regional Representative of Conrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia, as well as creative directors, TV producers from the US and Europe. They made presentations on the most important topics of national journalism. For example, in their reports Uzbek and foreign experts spoke about the existing standards, the criteria for the training of specialists in the field of journalism.
“This is my fifth time here. I would like to say that the level of journalism in Uzbekistan has grown up significantly for the last several years. Nevertheless, during the conference we discuss those questions which assist Uzbek journalism in expanding internationally and strengthen civil society,” said Creative Director at «HOUPLA.INC» Michael Brassert
It is worth mentioning that conducting of such events contributes to the improvement of the national mass media, which is, in turn, an essential element of formation of a strong civil society.
