AZERBAIJANI MASS MEDIA ABOUT MEASURES TAKEN IN UZBEKISTAN TO COMBAT THE DRUG THREAT
On the Azerbaijani news portals Turkishnews and Ethnoglobus a number of articles have been published devoted to Uzbekistan.
The focus of the material focused on the actions undertaken in the country to combat drug trafficking, as well as the measures taken to counter their abuse.
According to Turkishnews, today our country has opposed to the threat of drugs all the social, economic and political resources of the state. As part of the monitoring of drugs a more balanced approach is being used, which is aimed at drug demand reduction and prevention of illicit trafficking.
\"State Commission on Drug Control approved and is implementing Programme of comprehensive measures to combat drug abuse and trafficking in 2011-2015. Under this program, measures implemented for further strengthening of the material-technical and human capacities of law enforcement agencies, the modernization and development of the drug treatment service, enhance international cooperation in combating drug trafficking, conducting targeted prevention of drug abuse,\" - the publication said.
According to Ethnoglobus, in article \"On the drug situation in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2014\" as a result of targeted measures to detect and prevent drug trafficking channels and complex operations to combat drug trafficking in 2014, the law enforcement bodies of republic revealed 6698 (in 2013 - 7680) facts of drug-related crimes, including 3062 (3772) - related to the fact of sales, 607 (623) - contraband, 1320 (1491) - the illicit cultivation of narcotic plants, 1709 (1794) - other drug-related crimes. The primary indicator of the incidence of drug abuse has been reduced - 3.8 (2013 - 4.0).
The number of drug addicts, registered at the dispensary compared with last year fell by 1,353 and totaled 14,692 (16,045). The number of drug addicts who injected drugs decreased and amounted to 5110 (6809) or 34.8% (42.4%) in total, consisting on the account.
