President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov created a committee on coordination development of science and technology with his resolution \"On measures on improvement coordination and management of development of science and technologies\" on 7 August.

The decision directed to strengthen role of science in socio-economic development of Uzbekistan, liberalization of management of scientific-technical progress, improve level and quality of scientific researches, technologic and constructive developments.

The committee in cooperation with Uzbek Science Academy, Higher and Secondary Special Education Ministry, and other ministries and departments to develop priority directions of development of science and technologies.

It will also coordinate work of scientific-research institutions and establishments, higher education establishments, Science Academy on realization of priority directions on development of science and technologies.

The committee was entrusted to monitor realization of scientific-technical programmes and projects, as well as use results of scientific-research works to develop various sectors of economy, production, education.

It will also develop international cooperation in scientific-technical sphere and attract foreign investments to science of Uzbekistan, assist scientific organizations and specialists to participate in international programmes and competitions.
