No avian flu cases in Uzbekistan - official
No avian flu cases were registered in Uzbekistan, a senior Uzbek health official told UzA, state-owned news agency.
Bakhtiyar Niyazmetov, deputy health minister and senior sanitary inspector, said that reports on bird flu cases in Europe and Turkey concerns and such situation requires to increase vigilance of specialists and veterinarians.
He added the country developed complex of concrete measures, which decreases risk of \"import\" of bird flu to Uzbekistan.
Niyazmetov said that no bird flu cases, among poultry and humans, were registered in Uzbekistan. He added the government undertook measures on 5 August and 13 October 2005, which banned import of poultry from Russia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.
