President of Uzbekistan participates in Kazakh President\'s inauguration ceremony
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited Astana on 10-11 January and participated in the solemn ceremony of inauguration of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
On 4 December 2005, presidential elections were held in Kazakhstan. Acting President Nursultan Nazarbayev won the elections with 91.02% of votes.
On 11 January 2006, inauguration ceremony was held in the Kazakh capital Astana. Heads of states and governments of various countries, prominent politicians and public figures, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations and public participated in the ceremony.
Nazarbayev expressed gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan who had demonstrated its trust to him, as well as to representatives of international organizations and foreign observers.
President of Uzbekistan met the Kazakh leader and sincerely congratulated him with winning the elections, as well as wished him success in his further activity. Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed deep appreciation to Islam Karimov for the great attention and sincere congrationations.
\"Under your leadership, Kazakhstan has made significant transformations\",- Islam Karimov said. \"To be the leader of the country is a very hard task, which requires huge responsibility. Your victory demonstrates high trust of the people of Kazakhstan to you. I would like to stress that the achievements of Kazakhstan are your achievements, and its problems are also our problems. We have always lived shoulder to shoulder\".
\"Indeed, Uzbek and Kazakh people have always supported each other\",- the President of Kazakhstan said. \"As the newly elected President, I plan to make my first foreign visit to Uzbekistan. We need to develop integration in Central Asia with joint efforts. In this regard, development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is of a special attention\".
After exchanging views, the two presidents expressed belief that mutual cooperation in various spheres would continue developing.
