President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received US Congressman and OSCE Parliamentarian Assembly\'s President Alcee Hastings at presidential residence Oqsaroy on 2 November. The sides considered current affairs and perspectives of relations between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, issues on strengthening regional security.

The OSCE official also met speaker of the Legislative Chamber (lower house) of the Uzbek parliament Erkin Khalilov.

The sides discussed issues on cooperation between Uzbekistan and the USA and noted that present meeting will strengthen interparliament relations.

US Congressman said that the visit to Uzbekistan was fruitful. He said interparliamentary relations and issues related to educational system were discussed during the talks in the Legislative Chamber of the parliament.

Alcee Hastings held negotiations with the Uzbek Foreign Minister Elyor Ghaniev.
