Women of the Year Awarded
An award ceremony for winners of the Women of the Year contest was held at the Uzbekistan Hotel. Its participants are women leaders, representatives of all social spheres.

This event was one of the final activities of the State Program “Year of Wellbeing and Prosperity”, including such areas as legal, economic, social protection of motherhood and childhood, creating favorable conditions for improving the social and economic status of women, providing material support to young families, creating the necessary conditions for social activity of women and facilitate their daily household work.

The last point suggests that, along with women leaders, housewives participated in the contest, since domestic work is heavy. But, despite all the difficulties, women always remain true caring spouses and mothers, creating a family comfort, bringing up children, kind and merciful.

For over five years of the competition, Woman of the Year was taken over 120,000 application forms. This year alone about 30 thousand women participated in the first round of the competition. The jury selected the most worthy contenders. 14 of them - representatives from each region of the country - became winners and received diplomas and valuable gifts. These are women, who devoted themselves to the care of the family and at the same time were able to achieve some success in various spheres of public life.

“Today’s event is a confirmation of the well-known aphorism: ‘Nature has created in the world nothing more beautiful than a woman’,” said Dilbar Olimjanova, head of the Coordination Group for the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan. “The contest was attended by women who we are proud of and we want to be like. This is clear evidence of how much has been done in Uzbekistan to ensure the fair sex is decent and happy life.”

“My merit is that I opened the first microcredit organization in Uzbekistan,” says Nargiza Alieva, winner from Farghona region. “This victory is for me the impetus for further activities. Here I gained invaluable experience, because clearly saw what reached, revised some of views, got a new direction in the plans for the near future. I believe that women are the main driving force in society, because today they are playing a more significant role in all areas of our lives and do not forget taking care of their families.”
