Uzbek Goods Grow Roots in World Markets
Modernization and investment are cited as the source of success Uzbekistan’s machine building industry has summarized the development in January-July 2013. During this period there was an increase of production by 23.2%.

Uzbekistan is one of the few countries in Central Asia, which has been successful in building an effective and sustainable economic system, the establishment of industry, producing competitive products not only in domestic but also foreign markets. This success was made possible by the fact that at the heart of industrial policy were set modernization and technological re-equipment of production.

In just over two decades across the country were built hundreds of technology in various branches, and appeared to take their place in the global market automotive, agricultural machinery and electrical industry. In just the first seven months of this year, machine-building enterprises of the republic produced products for more than 6.29 trillion soums (Currency rates of CB from 06.09.2013 1$=2129.72soums).

The share of industry output in total industry reached 18.8%. Agriculture has always been one of the main priorities of the state policy. However, in the early years of independence, the farmers were faced with the lack of good domestic technology, they had to buy expensive imported equipment at inflated prices due to lack of supply, and this technique is not always suited to local agro-climatic conditions. Therefore, it was a special emphasis on the development of domestic agricultural, and with the participation of leading foreign manufacturers. The formula was as follows: in the country joint ventures are created, where the foreign partner bring a wealth of experience and advanced production technology, and the result is a product corresponding to international standards. Today, therefore, production of agricultural machinery enterprises in Uzbekistan is in demand in the neighboring countries. Therefore, the beginning of the year was marked with a significant increase in production of basic agricultural machinery: tractors by 82.1%, tractor trailers by 84.8%, harvesting machines by 44.9%, tractor mowers by 31%, balers 3 times, harrows 1.9 times.

However, the automotive industry traditionally “taxis out” to the first place on the list of the best, known far beyond Uzbekistan. Today it is hard to imagine the streets of domestic cities, and not only them, without Nexia, Cobalt, Spark and other models now commonplace, because the demand for the products of our automotive industry in CIS countries is great. In total, motor car enterprises have produced in the seven months of this year 145,067 vehicles, surpassing the same period last year by 11.2%. For example, the production of commercial vehicles increased by 97.5%, special cars by 47.6%, buses by 28.5%, passenger cars by 10.4%. The concomitant production of automotive components is hardly far behind. In comparison with January-July 2012, the enterprise sector increased production of automobile engines 40.4 times, steering wheels by 8.1%, and batteries by 5.4% trailers and semi-trailers 1.9 times.

The electrical industry actively developed in recent years. If the dynamic growth to continue further, this high-tech sector has the potential to oust its rival - car manufacture - on awareness of its brand in the world.

Today, the country has already started production of modern washing machines, refrigerators, stoves and microwave ovens under the names of leading European, South Korean, Chinese manufacturers. At the stage of completing agreements there are dozens of major projects after launch of which the country will produce commercially new types of household appliances. Thanks to its work, washing machines production increased in the country in January-July by 16.9%, power saving lamps by 45.2% and TV sets rose by 20.2%.

(Source: “Uzbekistan Today” Newspaper) In 8 months of 2013 banks in Uzbekistan granted 157 billion soums to support family businesses and craftsmen The National Press Center hosted a conference on \"Employment issues in the focus of banks\", organized by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Conference participants stated that the state program \"Year of well-being and prosperity\" envisages the creation of about 973 thousand jobs through the introduction of new industrial facilities, modernization and expansion of existing facilities, rehabilitation of insolvent and bankrupt enterprises, creation and support of medium and small enterprises, stimulation of big and small farms. To achieve these goals, different mechanisms regulating the labor market are being mobilized. We must note that the small business and private entrepreneurship have a significant impact on the growth of the labor market and employment of the population. It is acknowledged that private entrepreneurship contributes to the creation of additional jobs, the saturation of the market with various goods and services. In turn, small businesses in response to changing situation in markets, become active participants in the investment processes and create new jobs through introduction of new technologies.

The Central Bank, together with the relevant ministries and agencies, civil society organizations in all regions, especially in remote populated areas, holds business meetings, dialogues, which aim to inform the public of banking services and loans, as well as provides practical assistance to initiators of projects included in the regional program. Apart from that, workshops and conferences on the topic \"Opportunities to create new jobs through financial support of college graduates\" are conducted, where a detailed explanation of the nature and content of legislative acts, of benefits and preferences and requirements for getting loans to small businesses is given.

To attract people to entrepreneurship, representatives from commercial banks are attached to local communities and colleges, which create a favorable atmosphere for business contacts between the banks and the public.

As a result, the amount of loans given to small businesses since the beginning of this year totaled in 4.3 billion soums, which is 1.3 times the amount in the same period last year. One-fourth of these loans are micro loans. (Currency rates of CB from 06.09.2013 1$=2129.72soums).

As noted at the conference, on the basis of the presidential decree \"On additional measures to involve graduates of educational institutions in entrepreneurial activity,\" opportunities for young people in entrepreneurship are expanding, at the same time businesses that employ graduates of professional colleges are being actively supported by financial institutions.

It should also be noted that the commercial banks in the past months allocated 69 billion soums to finance graduates’ own start-up businesses, which is 2.6 times more than in the same period last year. Over the past 8 months, the commercial banks granted loans of 157 billion soums to support family businesses and handicraft, about 46 billion soums for creation of new intensive orchards and vineyards, as well as renovation of existing plantations, 119 billion soums to highly profitable businesses such as poultry farming, fish farming and beekeeping.

In addition, in the framework of the state program loans of $28.1 billion soums were allocated for development of agricultural processing and to increase food production through the creation of new and reconstruction of existing production facilities.
