A solemn events dedicated to start of new academic year have been held in all schools of Uzbekistan on 2 September 2013.

In new academic year, some 529,000 children were accepted to the first classes. Today, during Independence Year, all of them received the gifts of the President, which included 12 types of school supplies, school bags and set of manuals.

A huge works on strengthening material-technical base of schools were conducted in all regions as part of preparation to new academic year. In particular, some 219 general schools were reconstructed and 162 were fully repaired.

Both urban and rural educational institutions were equipped with modern educational equipment, including computer classes. The schools received 394 types of educational books and manuals with total copies of 22.5 million units.
