Foreign diplomats to monitor investigation of Andijan events
Working group on monitoring of investigation and measures of the government of Uzbekistan on stabilization of situation in Andijan was created, a statement of Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on 8 June.
The statement said that the group held its first session on 8 June. Representatives of embassies of Russia, China, Iran, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan formed the group.
It added that representatives of US and French embassies, who were also invited to the group, did not confirmed their participation and can join to work of group in any time.
The session discussed organizational issues and created secretariat of the group. The group established directed contacts with law enforcement bodies and independent commission of Uzbek parliament.
The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to assist to work of group and ensure access to necessary materials. Representatives of law enforcement bodies and parliamentarian commission attended the session.
