Kurash - the most popular form of national martial arts of Uzbekistan.

Translated from the Uzbek language \"kurash\" means \"achieving the goal by an honest way.\" This kind of fight appeared in the territory of modern Uzbekistan, about 3,500 years ago and is one of the fastest growing in the world of sports.

At the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan September 6, 1998 was created the International Kurash Association and the national sport – Kurash, gained an international status.

During the press conference, representatives of the association noted that an important factor in promoting Kurash is a fruitful cooperation IKA with the International Olympic Committee, the International Association of National Olympic Committees, the Asian Olympic Council, the Continental Olympic Committees of Africa, the Pan American Olympic Committee.

Entering Kurash onto the world stage as an international sport ,even more increased the interest from a reputable sports organizations and the world community in this kind of sport.

- The priority task is to continue the wide spread of Kurash, and inclusion of this kind of sport to the Olympic program. We wish many people involved to our national sport and many countries interested in it. Nowadays, in 121 countries of the world, on five continents, there are National Federation of Kurash. The largest number of them are registered in Europe and Asia - over 30 federations – said the general secretary of IKA ,Umid Yakubov.

Note that kurash – is accessible sport for all segments of the population. It is difficult to get injured, so kurash is considered as a humanistic sport. Participants of the sports event can be not only young people but also people in age.

Over the last three months for development of the world\'s kurash was organized a number of activities, including the XI traditional international tournament in memory of Al Hakim at-Termizi, held in Termez, from May 16 to 21. It was attended by about 150 participants from 30 countries.

From June 7 to 10 in the Lebanese capital Beirut was held the IV Championship in the Arab countries, with the participation of athletes from 10 Arabian countries of Asia and North Africa. At the highest level from June 26 to July 6, were held competitions on kurash in the IV Asian Indoor Games in martial arts in Incheon city of South Korea. Palvans from 16 countries were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.

On July 3rd in Incheon has been held the next Congress of the Asian kurash confederation. At this Congress, general director of the Asian Games, Haidar Farmon from Kuwait was elected as the new president of the Asian kurash confederation.

From July 18-23, master classes on international kurash were organized in France.

From July 28 to this day in Taiwan are held seminars for federations in the continental confederations and judges. Such meetings are a kind of platform for the Cadet Championships, which will be held in Taiwan from August 3.

Note that in the current year has scheduled a series of events, championships, competitions, conferences, aimed at the development and distribution of kurash, as a form of martial arts in the world.
