Everybody to Head to Registan
Uzbekistan brings together musicians from 60 countries
Preparations are in full swing in one of the most beautiful cities of the world, Samarqand, for the occasion of the year – the International Music Festival “Sharq Taronalari 2013”. The list of participating nations includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, the United Kingdom, Georgia, Egypt, Spain, China, Korea, Madagascar, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Czech Republic, Estonia and others.
Media representatives from 15 countries will be reporting about the breathtaking and spectacular Festival “Sharq Taronalari”.
To a kind tradition, the festival turns into not only a meeting site for friends, musicians, dancers and artists, but also a center of cultural exchange between diverse peoples. For this purpose the organizers – Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture and Sports, the “Uzbeknavo” Variety Art Association, the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, the Union of Composers of Uzbekistan, and the administration of Samarqand region – have developed a replete program of symposiums, conferences, exhibitions, panel discussions and workshops.
One of the major academic and applied conferences will be that entitled “Music Traditions of the East in the Context of Contemporary Culture.” The event involves high-profile art historians, music experts, directors of music festivals, as well as representatives of international organizations.
Today, the rehearsals of folklore and choreography bands are in full swing that will perform in the opening of the festival. Deputy executive director of the festival Saida Ibragimova told the UT correspondent on novelties in the “Sharq Taronalalri”:
“Popularity of the “Sharq Taronalari” is unbelievable. It is affected on the increased competition among the participants. This year, the record for the number of applications from the performers of traditional music turns India, they are 26. Thirteen applications we received from Iran, five from Azerbaijan, four from Latvia. All of them are highly professional folk bands. Members of the selection committee have to choose from among really the best - those who catch the fancy of the audience, reflect the identity of their people, and show the unique traditions. Uzbekistan will be represented by some 30 artists, whose repertoire includes the whole diversity of Uzbek music - from classical maqoms to contemporary interpreted improvisations.”
On the main square of the “Pearl of the East” will be occurred a true miracle, and each who will be the part of that action, with his own eyes will see the whole splendor of the world art, which, as it is known, has no boundaries.
