Localization Hits Imports
Manufacture of 61 new kinds of products has been developed in the country as of the beginning of 2013
Under the Localization Program domestic enterprises produced localized products valued at 5.3 trillion soums on 1,056 projects with a growth of 36.1% in the first half of the year against the same period in 2012. The estimated effect of import substitution increased by 19.4% and exceeded $2.5 billion. (Currency rates of CB from 06.08.2013 1$=2111.45soums)
Generally, since the beginning of the year the manufacture of more than 60 new kinds of localized products was developed, including stainless steel cantilever pumps, synthetic multifilament yarn, air, oil and fuel filters, toys, fragrance and cosmetics products, household chemicals, batteries, safety glass for surface transportation, microwaves.
The volume of exports of localized products reached $404.2 million. The product mix of export included 25 kinds of new products developed by enterprises under the Localization Program.
In general, as a result of implementation of measures to stimulate the expansion of export capacity of industries and support exporters the exports of goods and services increased by 11.4% as compared to the same period in 2012.
The volume of export supplies of ammonium sulfate, liquefied natural gas, recycled aluminum, trucks, wheat, knitted fabrics, fruits and vegetables and other goods has significantly increased. Uzbekistan carried out exports supplies of 130 kinds of new products amounting to $300 million, including auto spare parts, steel tubes of hot-rolled steel, ceramic tile, fiber from recycled PET containers, children\'s bicycles, carpets, cosmetics and others.
