Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister attends SCO meeting in Astana
First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilhom Nematov represented Uzbekistan at the session of the foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which took place in Astana (Kazakhstan) on 4 June.

The session, chaired by Kazakhstan, was held in traditional friendly atmosphere and the sides discussed implementation of decisions of Tashkent summit of the SCO leaders (2004) and preparation to upcoming summit of the SCO heads in Astana, scheduled for 5-6 July.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization founded in 2001 and unites Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, China, Russia and Uzbekistan.

Ministers with satisfaction noted that the organizations firmly moves towards on development of wide-scale and multi-side cooperation among member states and actively interacts with other international organizations and countries.

Foreign ministers exchanged opinion on actual international problems and underlined necessity to stir up activity of the SCO in fight against modern threats and challenges to security and support stability in Central Asian region.

Head of Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the SCO, located in the Uzbek capital, Vycheslav Kasymov also participated at the session.
