Uzbekistan continues to develop new blood substitutes
Three new blood substitutes developed by Uzbek scholars will soon be put into practice in medicine.

Development and launch of domestic production of medicines is a priority direction in the development of the pharmaceutical industry and health care. In recent years, Uzbekistan has become the producer of many varieties of medicine, in particular the production of blood substitutes has been established. In this course, an important event turned the launch of production of the first blood substitute developed by Uzbek scholars - suxinasol. For three years suxinasol has became not only widely implemented, but also included in the list of essential medicines in Uzbekistan. Today, the Scientific-Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, where he was developed this medicine, continues to work on new blood substitutes that in the near future could appear in medical practice. Head of the research, Candidate of Biological Sciences Larisa Shevchenko dwells upon this.

“Each blood substitute has its action spectrum. So, suxinasol has antishock and detoxication effect, and restores the water-salt metabolism, acid-base status, improves microcirculation, activates energy metabolism, and restores hemodynamics. All this is happening on the ground of improving metabolic processes in cells.

In the line of products we develop is yantaroprotein. This year we have presented it at the Republican Innovation Fair. This versatile protein-salt solution has immunomodulatory, hemostimulating, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-oxidant effect. The medicine also has the ability to enhance tissue regeneration, increase non-specific resistance of the body, restores the metabolic processes at the cellular and tissue levels. The medicine is in the Ministry of Health at the stage of licensing procedures.

Currently, we undertake the trials of remanisol. This medicine in contrast to suxinasol has osmotic-diuretic and nephroprotective properties, and is able to restore the kidney functioning, reduce the brain edema at the development of the terminal development of the state of shock. The new blood substitute has mannitol, which endows it with these properties. There is a pharmaceutical manufacturer that is ready to start its production.

Another of our development is the K3 blood substitute. In its development have been used such active ingredients as polysaccharides, the technology of acquisition of which was developed at the Institute of Chemistry of Plant Substances of the Academy of Sciences. It is like colloidal preparations based on medium-and low-molecular dextran, gelatin and polysaccharides can correct vital parameters of homeostasis - blood pressure, volemic and hemodynamic parameters, haemorrheological properties and the intensity of the microcirculation, as well as acid-base and aggregative state of blood, activity and effectiveness of the functioning of the detoxification systems of the body. However, unlike their foreign analogs, the domestic medicine is able to restore vital functions of cells, and almost has no side effects. (Source: “Uzbekistan Today” newspaper)
