Uzbek light industry leads in the number of attracted foreign investors, as well as in annually increasing volumes of export products. Nowadays, the sector is developed by not as large-scale projects as oil and gas and automotive industries, for instance, the cost of which crosses over hundreds, and sometimes billions of dollars. The most important thing here is that textile companies are opened in the regions, creating hundreds of jobs out there for young people and women. According to experts, in order to further develop the domestic light industry it is strategically important to not only produce the semi-finished products, but also to further increase the share of competitive finished products, demanded in international markets. Also, when implementing investment projects and introducing new capacities it is important to keep in mind the specifics of regions of the country based on the availability of manpower, raw materials and energy resources.

Presently, Uzbekyengilsanoat comprises about 290 enterprises. For five months of 2013 they produced industrial products valued at 761.8 billion soums with a growth rate 19% against the same period in 2012. They exported products worth $ 344.4 million with a growth rate of 24.7%. In 2010 the exports reached $619 million, in 2011 - $660 million, and in 2012 this index exceeded $705 million

Year by year the geography of exports of light industry is expanding; we enter new potential export markets. Uzbekistan has tapped the markets of Austria, Hungary, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Switzerland and the countries of the African continent and Latin America over the recent years thanks to the joint work of enterprises of Uzbekyengilsanoat and foreign trade companies of MFERIT. Generally, as of the beginning of 2013, Uzbekistan has been exporting to 50 countries.

To open new and expand the existing markets, the companies of Uzbekyengilsanoat constantly participate in international trade fairs.
