Point for the Growth
Mechanical engineering and light industry in the lead
For five months of 2013 machine-building enterprises of Uzbekistan produced goods for more than four trillion sums, which is 24.1% more against the same period last year.
In January-May Uzbekistan produced 96,889 cars, which exceeded the previous year index by 12%. The production of truck vehicles increased by teo times, buses - by 1.9 times, special vehicles - by 24.1%, passenger cars - by 11.1%. Production of automobile engines has increased concurrently by 267.8 times, and battery - by 18.6%.
Large industrial enterprises increased production of agricultural machinery: tractor trailers (by 3.9 times), harvesting machines (2.1 times), harrows (1.9 times), tractors (1.7 times). Previous year’s ratio was also exceeded by such kinds of electrical products as signal-blocking cable (2.5 times), household wires (2.5 times), installation wires (by 38.3%), hose wire (by 29,5%), power cables (by 6.1%), RF wires and cables (by 3.8%).
Light industry enterprises of Uzbekistan have demonstrated a positive trend in this period as well. The measures taken on further liberalization and deepening of market reforms, implementation of the most important priorities of socio-economic development program of the country contributed to the dynamic development of the field, the production volume of which exceeded 3.2 trillion soums (Currency rates of CB from 04.07.2013 1$=2096.19 soums) with 13.5 percent growth against the same period of 2012.
Knitting industry enterprises has increased their output by 26.2%, garment industry - by 22.8%, leather industry - by 20.9%, cotton industry - by 16.3%
Compared to the previous year the enterprises increased the manufacture of mixed fabrics by 50.6%, cotton textiles - by 46.2%, cotton yarn - by 29.3%, raw silk yarn - by 28.1%. The manufacture of materials for footwear has increased too (by 2.1 times compared to January-May 2012), textile haberdashery (53.4%), knitted fabrics (50.1%), carpets and rugs (15%). This has contributed to a significant increase in the production of finished consumer goods like knitwear (41.6%), including children’s knitwear (36.6%).
The scope of exported products has also increased as compared to January-May 2012. For instance, enterprises of knitting industry exported products worth $73 million, which is 65.8% more than at the same period last year, the clothing industry - $25.5 million (up 36.5%), leather industry - $35.1 million (53.1% growth).
