Uzbekistan has developed manufacture of over 30 new kinds of building materials in recent years



Last year, the production scope of enterprises under Uzqurilishmateriallari Company exceeded 1.5 trillion soums(Currency rates of CB from 03.07.2013 1$=2096.19 soums).

National Press Center hosted a press conference on the development of building materials industry in Uzbekistan.

Today, the country is running a range of long-term programs on construction of individual standard design housing, roads, social facilities, upgrade of industrial enterprises. That all contributed to the scope of production of building materials with a positive trend for over 10 years. Over the past eight years the volume of commodity output increased 1.8 times. In general, today the industry of building materials is represented by more than 5,200 enterprises.

The average annual growth rate of investments in the building materials industry reached 53.6%, while investment in the development of the industry in 2012 increased by more than 28.1 times against 2004. Foreign investment flow increased actively as well. The number of companies with foreign capital reached 24 in the end of last year as compared with 2004, when Uzqurilishmateriallari merged only five companies of this kind.

Over the past few years the sector has developed the manufacture of more than 30 new types of building materials, including dry mix, gypsum board, particle board, board, plastic and aluminum-plastic composite panels, plastic pipes and fittings made of PVC for cold and hot water supply, aluminum radiators, frames and doors of plastic and aluminum, and others.

This has considerably reduced the share of imported building materials in the market of the country. In particular, imports of dry mixes decreased 16.9 times, aluminum-plastic composite panels - 2.7 times, soft roof - 11.5 times, tiles -1.2 times, linoleum - 1.65 times. Imports of plasterboard were completely discontinued. At the same time, domestic enterprises expanded exports.
