Movie Inspires the World
Uzbekistan is to host the third “Golden Guepard” Tashkent International Film Forum on October 19-24, 2013.
Representatives of the Fund Forum, the Uzbekkino National Agency, as well as renowned cinema art figures dwell upon this at the press conference.
The competent selection commission chooses the best films in three categories: motion pictures, short films and animation films.
Film makers from across the globe have sent in more than hundred works in various genres. Those include celebrated masters from Roman Polanski and the Taviani brothers through to NuoMing Huari.
The third “Golden Guepard” has considerably extended its geographical cover: movies from Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Turkey, Iran, Brazil, India and Afghanistan have been received for application.
The “Golden Guepard” is a splendid meeting of the East and West, it is a unique event in the world of cinematography, the meaning of which is laid in its motto “Civilizations of the 21st Century: Dialogue of Cultures.” When we think of its concept, we try to consider the changing environment in the international cinematography, and the experience of previous two years. Exactly for that reason, as a motto was chosen the Latin saying “Per speculum et in Aenigmate” – In mirror and riddle, in reflection and allegory. This formulation helps to extend the border of the upcoming movie forum from realistic (genre) to intellectual (symbolic-philosophical),” said the director general of the “Golden Guepard” Akbar Hakimov.
Besides the demonstration of competing films, the program of the festival includes the workshops with involvement of cinema art figures, scientific conference “National Cinema in Global World”, as well as out-of-contest events “With Spectators on Equal”, “Panorama of Uzbek Cinema”, “Retrospectives”, and many others.
“All participants of the film forum are expected plenty of pleasant surprises. Thus, their projects will be represented by the Embassy of France, the Potsdam Institute of Film and Television. Besides, the work is carried out over the joint project with well-known director Umesh Mehra, dedicated to a centenary of the Indian cinematography,” told the director general of the Uzbekkino National Agency Jahongir Qosimov. “The format of workshops is getting improved as well for youngsters trying their skills in cinematography.
There will be organized a series of trainings in a specially equipped rooms. Thus, students would learn the subtleties of the work in practice with the help of leading specialists.”
