Asian Masters of Sambo Compete in Tashkent
Asian Sambo Championship and the Sambo World Championship with the best sambo masters started at the capital\'s sports complex Jar.
About 500 athletes from more than 20 countries such as New Zealand, Sudan, Nigeria, South Korea, Iraq, Nepal, Syria, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan take part in the competition organized by the Asian Sambo Federation (ASF), the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Sambo Federation of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan has hosted continental and world sambo championships for several times. Open Asian Championship in sambo among men, women, youth and juniors held in Tashkent in 2012 has received high recognition of foreign experts and athletes.
According to the head coach of our national team Ravshan Ahmadjonov, about 70 wrestlers will defend the honor of Uzbekistan at the current competition. There are also young and talented athletes among them along with the winners of the World Championships and the continent.
The first day determined the first male and female winners of competitions of the Asian Championship. In 52 kilograms weight category, our experienced athlete Shavkat Jurayev defeated Anvar Sayed from Pakistan and became the champion of Asia.
Among women, the gold medal was won by Ayna Zaripova from Turkmenistan beating Endah Hariati from Indonesia.
