Uzbekistan youth always in the lead
The 47th Mendeleev Olympiad in chemistry came to the end. The representatives of Uzbekistan, having won 2 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals, secured the first place in team standing.
Each team of the 17 participating countries of this intellectual marathon - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan have fought hard to become winners of this prestigious international competition and gain admission to prestigious universities.
The awards ceremony took place at the Tashkent branch of the Moscow stated university named after M.Lomonosov. Highly assessing the organisation of the olympiad, the dean of the faculty of chemistry of the Moscow state university, academician Valery Lunin expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the country for conditions, created to each participant of the olympiad and noted that a great attention is paid to education of the youth in Uzbekistan.
Indeed, complete reforms of the education system has been one of the achievements of our country in the years of independence. Formation of the fully developed younger generation with deep knowledge, training of highly qualified professionals, able to think innovatively has been a priority task of the state policy.
As President Islam Karimov remarked, the 21st century, by universal recognition, has become the century of globalisation and blurring of boundaries, of ICT and internet, of growing competition in the world markets. In these conditions only the countries, that have invested in human capital, preparation of educated and intellectually developed generation, can boast.
The 47th international Mendeleev Olympiad in chemistry consisted of two theoretical and one experimental (practical) rounds, in which the participants could gain 230 points maximum.
The organisers also took care of cultural and entertainment activities for the young chemists- sightseeing tours to Samarkand and Tashkent, educational institutions of our country and concert tours were organised.
- It was really interesting, says Peter Bolgar from Hungary. - Uzbekistan is an amazing country with ancient history, unique nature, good-natured people and the talented youth. I particularly liked the train tour to Samarkand.
The representatives of Uzbekistan, having won 2 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals, secured the first place in team standing. Next came the teams from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
