The statement said that Uzbekistan perceived nuclear tests conducted by North Korea with concern, which is rude violation of the UN Security Council resolutions and is direct threat to security of the region and the world as a whole.

Daewoo and Hyundai win tender for modernization of Talimarjan thermal power station
South Korean consortium won a tender for modernization of Talimarjan thermal power station in Kashkadarya region.
South Korean firms Daewoo and Hyundai won tender for modernization of Talimarjan thermal power station. It is expected that the contract with the winner worth US$880 million will be signed by the end of February. Main consultant of the project Ė Asian Development Bank Ė approved tender results, RIA Novosti reported.
Uzbekenergo state joint stock company announced a tender on construction of two combined cycle gas turbine units 400-450 MW each at Talimarjan thermal power station with the starting price of US$893 million.
Three more consortiums also participated in tender process. They were Japanís Mitsui and South Koreaís Samsung, Japanís Sumitomo and South Koreaís Lotto, as well as Franceís Alstom and Spainís Duro Felguera.
The project cost is US$1.28 billion. The Government of Uzbekistan attracted ADB loan for US$350 million and loan of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) forUS$300 million. The remaining US$630 million will be financed by the government, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (US$250 million), and the power utility company.
Within the project, it is also planned to build a 218 km 500 kV single circuit transmission line from Talimarjan TPP to Sogdiana substation. The project with the cost of US$166.8 million will be implemented due to loan of the World Bank for US$110 million and resource of the Uzbek side.
First power block of Talimarjan thermal power station was commissioned in December 2004. The designed capacity of the block is 800 megawatt. The construction cost was US$400 million. Tashkent, Uzbekistan. (Soursc UzDaily.com).
572nd Anniversary of the Great Poet Alisher Navoi
These days, educational activities, literary evenings, scientific conferences and poetry readings dedicated to the 572nd anniversary of the great thinker and poet Alisher Navoi are being conducted in our country.
According to the tradition, an event dedicated to this date was held in the National Park of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi on 9 February.
On this occasion, the members of the Senate, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of various ministries and agencies, creative unions, teachers, mahalla activists, as well as students were gathered here.
The State Conservatory has hosted a concert in tribute to the great Mussorgsky.
The program included arias from famous operas by the great Russian composer of the nineteenth century, love songs, and piano plays. They were performed by a soloist of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theater, winner of international competitions - Georgy Dmitriev, and vocalist, winner of international and republican competitions Roman Vetrov.
Piano part was performed by a student of the Conservatory Liliya Gilmanova.
