Domain Network Growing: National domain zone UZ grew 17% in names
In 2012, national domain zone of Uzbekistan registered 15,811 domains, which is 17.7% more than in the previous year.
Best month by the number of registrations in the last year (and all the time keeping statistics) was April, when registrars opened 592 domains. Of the total number of domain names registered, more than 54% account for corporate entities and about 46% to individuals. Most of the domains are owned by residents of Uzbekistan.
Largest registrar is Arsenal-D, whose share accounts for 30.4% of all registered domains. The following are the oldest and once the largest registrar Tomas with 26.1%, Billur COM accounts for 23.3%, BCC 8.7%, Sarkor Telecom 7.6% and Fergana-based Simus takes 1.8%.
The domain registration services in Uzbekistan are currently provided by 11 organizations: in addition to the abovementioned six companies, five computerization centers opened last August in regional administrations of Karakalpakstan, Navoi, Namangan, Samarqand and Farghona regions.
