Goalkeeper of Uzbekistan Asilbek Amanov saved two penalty kicks to help his team to book place in semifinals of the AFC U-19 Championship.

Quarterfinal match between Uzbekistan and Syria ended with the score 2-2 after full time and the sides determined the winner at after match penalty shootouts. Asilbek Amanov saved two penalty kicks, while Syrian player hit the woodwork. In their turn, all three Uzbek players scored their shots to win the match.

The match was difficult for both sides. Ahmadjon Musaev side had to come behind twice to equalize the score during the match.

Hamid Mido opened the score on 38 minutes, while Uzbekistan top scorer Igor Sergeev netted his sixth goal of the tournament. Syria needed just three minutes to claim the lead.

Uzbekistan dominated the second half and Ihtiyor Toshpulatov scored an equalizer on 76 minutes. Both sides failed to convert their chances into goals in the second half and two extra times.

The victory also helped Uzbekistan to book the berth to the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in T Turkey from 21 June to 13 July 2013. (Source UzDaily.com)
