UZBEK PRESIDENT TO PAY STATE VISIT TO INDIA
The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov will pay a state visit to India on 4-6 April 2005 at the invitation of the President of India.
During the course of his visit, President Karimov will call on the President of India, who will also be hosting a state banquet in his honor. He will also meet Vice President, Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Commerce & Industry of India.
It is expected that issues of bilateral, regional and international interest will be discussed in negotiations.
Around 12 agreements and documents, including such issues as cooperation in development of small scale industries, banking, tourism, education and culture, military technical, are expected to be signed during the visit.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and India reached US$150 million in 2004 or grew by 40% year-on-year.
