Infrastructural Basis of Technological Projects: Angren prepares for investors
In 2013-2015 Uzbekistan will allocate over $ 59 million for the development of transportation, manufacturing and engineering infrastructure in special industrial zone (SIZ) Angren.
The government approved a special program to address these problems with a total value of approximately $ 59.4 million of which $ 13.4 million will be allocated to create electricity network, $ 3.5 million - for gas supply, $ 28.1 million - water supply and wastewater drainage, $ 4.3 million – for the development of railway infrastructure and $ 9.9 million – for the construction of highways.
In general the program envisages implementation of over 40 different projects. By October 1, 2012 related ministries and agencies will develop the project documentation. The list of the largest projects includes the reconstruction of transmitting station Akhangaran ($ 6.8 million), the development of the railway stations Ablyk ($ 2.2 million) and Angren ($ 2.1 million), as well as overhaul of the Tashkent street ($ 5.4 million).
The decree on the establishment of SIZ Angren was signed by the President of Uzbekistan in April 2012. Companies and manufactures within the zone should be high-tech and should provide the complex and efficient use of the manufacturing and resource capacity of the region, deeper processing of mineral resources, production of the goods with high added value that would be competitive in domestic and world markets, and ensure exporting of not less than 50% of the production.
Sharers of SIZ Angren are granted a broad system of tax and customs privileges and preferences, depending on the amount of investment, for a term from three to seven years. There is a procedure, which provides them with a guaranteed connection to communications and links them with production sites. (Source: Uzbekistan Today newspaper)
