A Singer of the Eastern Beauty: A centenary of the great painter
The Kamoliddin Behzod Memorial Museum-Park is hosting the exhibition in Memory of Master, timed to a hundred years of day of birth of the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Chingiz Ahmarov.

To the accepted tradition, in early morning in the day of birth of the painter, group pf representatives of the Academy of arts of Uzbekistan paid tribute and laid flowers to the tomb of the master.

Then, there was held an opening ceremony of the exhibition that was attended by celebrated figures of culture and art of Uzbekistan, representatives of the public, students and admirers of the painter’s talent.

Chingiz Ahmarov is one of outstanding painters whose name was written with golden letters in the history of the art of Uzbekistan of the 20th century. He left priceless heritage consisted of monumental and easel painting, sketches to stage decorations and films, as well as illustrations for books. It is not necessary to go to museums to see the works of Chingiz Ahmarov, because it is possible to see them everywhere. His works decorate the metro station of Alisher Navoi, Tashkent State Higher School of National Dance and Choreography, Tashkent State Institure of oriental Studies and Scientific-Research Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

Ahmarov was first of all the master of monumental painting: majority of his easel works were the sort of variations, fragments of monumental works, which served the ground for perfecting and forming his ideas of future frescos (portrait ‘Rahima’, ‘Bahor’, ‘Wounded Soldier’). Most part of easel works of Chingiz Ahmarov is portraits of famous people – artists, scholars.

The current exhibition consists of 60 canvases from the funds of the main office of art exhibitions and private collections that never been exhibited previously. Among them are The Beauty, The Lady, Reading a Book, The Dance, The Inspiration, The Young Alisher Navoi, Portrait of Ibn Sino, The Sogdian Wedding, and others.

The renowned poet Heinrich Heine said: “Poetry gives us what the nature rejects to give, spring that never fades, time that never passes, cloudless sky and everlasting youth. The canvases of Chingiz Ahmarov spread the feeling of life-asserting force, love for life and beauty. He glorified the beauty of the east and prepared a place for himself in the annals of our art as a great master, the painter of high class.” (Source: Uzbekistan Today newspaper)
