Light industry exports goods for US$320m
Enterprises of light industry of Uzbekistane exported goods for US$320 million in the first half of 2012, the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of the State joint stock company Uzbekyengilsanoat Shamsuddin Sultanov said.
He said that Uzbekistan started to export fiber, bed-clothes, children shirts, ready-made garments and knitted works.
Shamsuddin Sultanov said that the light industry enterprises work on expanding export geography. Light industry began to export goods to Argentina, Morocco and Venezuela.
In the first half of 2012, the growth of consumer goods production made up 44.2%, industrial goods output 22%, hosiery products and ready-made garments 76%.
Sultanov stated that Uzbekyengilsanoat realized 23 investment projects for uUS$625 million. These projects will help to increase production in light industry.
He said that the government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution On additional measures on increasing the volume of production and expanding assortment on non-food consumer goods for 2012-2015.
According to the resolution, Uzbekyengilsanoat will implement another 10 projects with the cost of US$80.7 million.
State Statistics Committee said that enterprises of light industry of Uzbekistan produced goods for 3.503 trillion soums in January-July 2012, which grew by 13.2% year-on-year. (Source: UzDaily.com)
