President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on organizational measures for the international conference ‘The role and importance of small business and entrepreneurship in the implementation of socioeconomic policy in Uzbekistan’ to be held in Tashkent.

The conference, due September 12-14 later this year, is designed to study foreign experience in the development of small business and entrepreneurship as a critical link for stable economic development and social transformation, as well as the introduction of the international community to the achievements of Uzbekistan in this sphere.

The conference is expected to be attended by representatives from the UN, International Finance Corporation, Islamic Development Bank, businessmen from around the world. The breakout sessions will focus on such topical issues as the most important factors and conditions for the development of small business and entrepreneurship, legal guarantees of freedom of business activity and the protection of private property rights, their role in the expansion of export potential and international cooperation, private sector development as a factor in increasing employment and income growth.

As part of the international conference, the participants will visit small businesses and private enterprises, vocational colleges, as well as get acquainted with the historical sights of Tashkent, Samarqand and Bukhoro. (Source: “Uzbekistan Today” newspaper)
