In the first half of 2012, enterprises of machine-building industry of Uzbekistan made products for more than 3.74 trillion soums with the 8.3% growth over the same period last year.
During the period the production of automobiles increased by 2.5% against the past year, including passenger cars by 2.4%, cargo vehicles by 39.2%. 58.9 thousand cars were sold abroad. Exports realized $401.8 million (107.9% as compared to January-June 2011).
Also, in the first half of the large enterprises of the republic had mastered the production of such popular household appliances as microwave ovens, washing machines, vacuum cleaners.
Experts point out that enterprises of the industry had also significantly increased production of air conditioners (5.9-fold), energy saving lamps (5.2 times), tractor plows (2 times), elevators (2.5 times), uninsulated conductors for overhead power lines (3.3 times), electric bridge cranes (by 7.7%) and batteries (by 7.4%), electric irons (6.7%), refrigerators and freezers (by 6.5%).
