Sports Delegation of Uzbekistan Left for London
The sports delegation of Uzbekistan left for the British capital of London to take part in the 30th Summer Olympic Games.
Solemn seeing off ceremony was held at the Tashkent international airport. The representatives of state and public organizations, athletes and their parents, media workers were invited on this occasion.
It was noted in particular that constant attention in Uzbekistan is paid to the promotion of healthy lifestyle, development of sports, identification and full support of talented young people.
The Children’s Sports Development Fund and the three-tier sports games – Umid Nihollari (Offspring of Hope), Barkamol Avlod (Comprehensively Advanced Generation) and Universiade formed on the initiative of the President, along with helping to foster a physically robust and spiritually mature younger generation, serve as a peculiar school of nurturing gifted athletes capable of worthily defend the honor of our Motherland. Modern sports complexes, stadiums, gymnastic centers and courts built in all regions of our country are always crowded with boys and girls.
“Thanks to independence, Uzbek athletes participating in the world sports competitions and becoming winners,” says world boxing champion and two-time winner of Asian Games Elshod Rasulov.
“Every our athlete taking part in the prestigious competitions in international arenas, especially in the Olympic Games, feels that his Motherland which has opened the way to the world and its people are behind him. It gives him strength and courage. 30th Summer Olympic Games will undoubtedly be successful for the sportspeople of Uzbekistan. I also will try to participate worthily in the London Olympics and justify the confidence of the President and our people.
We, the Olympians are sure to prepare worthy gift for the 21st anniversary of the independence of our country.”
The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in our country, Rupert Joy spoke at the event. (Source: UzA news agency)
